The local area...
Rutland House is situated in the heart of Uppingham, a small market town. Located in Rutland, England’s smallest county, Uppingham is just six miles from Oakham and Rutland Water, and 19 miles from Peterborough and Leicester.
As well as being a beautiful rural location, Uppingham is known for its famous Public School, its busy theatre and good shopping (notably its antique and art galleries).
The area is renown for its variety of attractions including Geoff Hamiliton’s famous Barnsdale Gardens, Rockingham Castle, Burghley House and Belvoir Castle. Rutland Water, the largest manmade reservoir in the UK is a fantastic location for fishing, cycling, sailing, birdwatching and walking.
Uppingham offers a number of good places to eat out. There are also many more excellent places to try just a short drive away.
